Teachers’ Tips:
There are seven “places” that this book introduces - The Classroom is the first.
Later we will learn five rooms in the home and finally the park but for now let's look at the place where we are this very moment - In the Classroom!
The 5 Components
1. Song - After learning all of the objects in The Alphabet Song students should now be in the habit of responding "It's a..." when asked "What's this?" about something. They should make it a habit to always respond in a full sentence to everything!
The next question that will be introduced is "What color is the...?" Although that concept will not be explored fully until The Color Song in Section 10, you can begin to introduce The Color Song to students now to prepare them for the upcoming lessons.
So, even though there is no song that specifically applies to this section and the next, you can review The Busy Beaver Song, The Alphabet Song or practice The Color Song as often as you like.
2. Interactive Video / Audio File - Play the Interactive Video / Audio Files and pause them after every question. Give the students time to recognize the objects and answer for themselves.
3. Textbook Activities - Hold up the book and point at the pictures. Ask the class "What's this?" and have them answer "It's a..." Bring students up to the front of the class individually and ask them what each object is.
Bring students up to the front of the class two at a time and have them ask each other what the objects on the page are.
Pair up students around the room and let them practice with each other.
4. Classroom Activities - This is a great exercise because you don't need to make Flash Cards, all of these objects should already be in the classroom.
Put a number of the objects on the table in front of everyone and ask the class "What's this?" for each thing.
Play a Game! Students can come up individually and close their eyes. Put one of the objects in their hand and ask them "What's this?" They will have to guess what it is.
5. Work Sheets - The following format for the Work Sheets will be carried on from this point until the introduction of basic verbs in Section 21. Students must become familiar with how to complete these sheets on their own. Once they can complete these sheets on their own you can assign one sheet for homework everyday.
There is a Vocabulary Page for students to add to their "Vocabulary Picture Dictionary".
Workbook 1-2 Pages 12 and 13 introduce the question "Where is the...?" and the answer "The...is in the classroom". This line of questioning will be carried on throughout the entire section on the Home and the Park. It is time to introduce this concept so students can begin to understand the idea of "where" something is.

본 교재에서 7개의 장소를 소개하고 있는데The Classroom이 첫번째 장소가 되겠습니다. 후에 집안의 다섯개의 각기 다른 방과 마지막엔 공원을 지도할것입니다. 하지만 지금은 학생들이 지금 어디 있는지 그곳에 관한 학습을 할것입니다. 바로 In the Classroom!
5단계 학습 구성
1. 노래 - 알파벳 송의 모든 알파벳과 단어들을 학습한 후 학생들에게 어떤 사물에 대해 "What's this?"라고 물었을때 학생들은"It's a..."라는 문장으로 대답하는 습관이 들었을 것입니다. 학생들은 항상 완전한 문장으로 대답하는것이 몸에 배이도록 해야합니다.
다음은 "What color is the...?"을 소개하는 질문입니다. 섹션 10의The Color Song이 나올때까지는 이 주제가 나오지 않지만 곧 앞으로 배우게 될 내용을 미리 준비학습 할수 있습니다.
이번과 다음 섹션에 관련해 특별한 노래가 없다고 해도the The Busy Beaver Song, The Alphabet Song을 복습하거나The Color Song을 예습 할수 있습니다.
2. 비디오 / 오디오 상호 학습 - 비디오 재생시 매 질문이 나온 후 비디오를 잠시 중지 시키고 학생들이 직접 대답하도록 합니다. 단 대답을 듣기전 학생들 스스로 그것이 어떤 사물인지 생각할 시간을 주세요.
3. 교재 활동 – 교재를 들어 그림을 하나씩 짚어 학생들에게 "What's this?"라고 질문을 하고 학생들은"It's a..."라고 완전한 문장으로 대답합니다. 학생들을 한사람씩 호명해 각 물건들이 무엇인지 질문을 해보고 호명된 학생이 다른 학생을 지목해 서로 질문과 대답을 하게 합니다.
학생들 두 명을 교실 앞으로 불러 서로에게 책에 나온 물건들이 무엇인지 서로에게 질문과 대답을 하게 합니다.
학생들을 두 명씩 짝지워 서로 질문과 대답을 연습하게 합니다.
4. 교실 활동 – 플래시 카드를 만들 필요가 없고 학습에 필요한 모든 물건이 이미 교실안에 있을것이므로 유용하게 내용 공부를 할수 있습니다.
학용품등의 물건들에 번호를 매긴후 각각 학생들의 책상위에 하나씩 올려놓은뒤 학생 한명 한명에게 "What's this?" 라고 질문을 하고 대답을 듣습니다.
게임을 해봅시다. 학생들을 한명씩 불러서 눈을 감게한 뒤 손위에 물건을 올려놓고 "What's this?" 라고 질문을 하고 학생들이 추측하여 영어로 답하게 합니다.
5. 워크북 학습 - 학생들은 어떻게 워크북 페이지를 공부하는지 스스로 알 것입니다. 학생들에게 날마다 한페이지씩 숙제를 내주세요.
"Picture Dictionary"에 첨부할수 있는Vocabulary페이지가 있습니다.
워크북1-2의12쪽과 13쪽에 "Where is the...?" 와 "The...is in the classroom"이 소개되었습니다. 집과 공원을 학습하는 모든 섹션에 걸쳐 이 질문들을 사용할수 있을 것입니다. 학생들은 이제 어떤 물건이 “어디”에 있는지를 학습 할때 입니다.
