Teachers' Tips:
The 5 Components
1. Song - The Song entitled "Characters" in the Jukebox section of this website was designed to help students get a first introduction to the character names and especially the prefixes Mr. and Mrs. It is very important to teach good manners! Children can't address an elder by their first name - it's rude! It's important that students make it a habit right from the very beginning to use the prefix Mr. for men and Mrs. for women.
2. Interactive Video / Audio File - Play the Interactive Video / Audio Files for this section and treat them the same way as the Video / Audio Files of the previous sections. Pause the files after every question and have students answer them. Eventually play them with the sound off so that students do all of the speaking or have students stand up in pairs and let one student ask the questions and another one answer.
3. Textbook Activities - We now will move backwards in the textbook a little to Page 3. Obviously we could not teach writing "What's his name?" and "His name is..." until the students had learned the basics of phonics and the alphabet.
Assuming that students have now mastered those skills we can begin to ask and answer questions about people.
Some of the main objects of this lesson, as written in the "Teachers' Tip" at the bottom of Page 3 in Textbook 1, are to teach concepts of adding the prefix Mr. or Mrs. to a man or woman's name and also for students to learn the meaning of his, her and my.
Hold up the book and point at each character. Ask students "What's his/her name?" and make sure that the students answer in a full sentence "His/her name is..."
Make Flash Cards for every character. Hold them up for the class and ask Whats his/her name? Have students practice on their own or in front of the class with the Flash Card pictures.
4. Classroom Activities - The idea is to get a dialogue going between students. They must be able to ask in a full sentence "What's his/her name?" and also answer "His/Her name is..."
When students have mastered both the question and answer for all the characters you can begin to ask them in first person "What's your name?" They of course must answer in a full sentence "My name is..."
Have students interview each other. They can go around in a circle and say "Hello, my name is... What's your name" and answer each other. Then you can ask each student "Johnny what's her name?" while pointing at a girl student. Johnny must answer in a full sentence "Her name is..."
Use the Flash Cards of these characters to play some of the games from the previous sections. You can play a Memory Game, Go Fish, or hold up the card and have the students spell out the character's name for you.
5. Work Sheets - These Work Sheets get more difficult as they continue. They begin by simply writing the character's name and end with them writing the full sentence "What's his/her name?" etc.
There is a Vocabulary Page that can be saved and put into each student's "Vocabulary Picture Dictionary" and a Bingo Game to be played at the end.

1. 노래 본 섹션에 정확히 부합하는 노래는 없습니다. 섹션13의 The House Song 에서 캐릭터들의 이름을 소개하게 되는데 학생들은 캐릭터들과 "What's his/her name?"이나 "His/her name is..."란 표현들을 미리 학습하게 되므로써 매우 친숙해 질것입니다.
2. 비디오 / 오디오 상호 학습 매번 질문이 나오면 비디오를 잠시 정지 시킨후 다시 비디오를 보기전에 학생들이 먼저 대답하게 합니다. 비디오의 소리를 끄고 두명씩 짝을 지워 한명에게는 비디오의 문장을 따라 읽게하고 다른 학생에게는 대답을 얘기하게 합니다.
3. 교재 활동 본교재의 조금 앞 3페이지로 되돌아 가겠습니다. 학생들이 알파벳과 파닉스의 기본개념을 배우기 전까진 "What's his name?", "His name is..."의 문장들을 가르칠수 없었습니다.
이번 학습의 내용중 일부는 교재 3페이지 아래에 나와있는 "Teachers' Tip" 을 참고해서 지도하시면 됩니다. Mr.나 Mrs.와 같이 남자나 여자의 이름앞에 붙이는 접두사들과 함께his, her 이나 my같은 단어들의 의미들 또한 학습하게 됩니다.
책을 들어 각 캐릭터들을 짚어가며 학생들에게 "What's his/her name?" 질문을 하고 학생들이"His/her name is..."처럼 완전한 문장표현으로 대답할수 있도록 합니다.
두 명의 학생을 교실앞으로 부른뒤 서로에게 책의 캐릭터들을 가르키면서 "What's his/her name?"이라고 질문하고 대답하게 합니다.
4. 교실 활동 - 학생들은"What's his/her name?"이라고 질문을 하고 또한 대답도 "His/Her name is..."식으로 완전한 문장표현으로 대답하는 연습을통해 학생들끼리 대화를 할수있게하는 학습이 될수있습니다.
학생들이 캐릭터들의 이름을 묻고 대답하는 문장을 완전히 학습한 후에는 학생들에게 "What's your name?" 라고 이름을 물어봤을때 "My name is..."식의 문장으로 대답할수 있을 것입니다.
학생들이 둥글게 모여 앉아 서로 "Hello, my name is... What's your name?"과 같은 문장으로 이름을 묻고 대답하는 역할극을 하게합니다. 그런 후 선생님은 학생들에게 한명씩 이름을 부르며 마주앉은 학생의 이름이 무엇인지 물어보고 학생들이 완전한 문장표현으로 대답하게 합니다.
이 캐릭터들을 위한 플래시 카드를 만들어 memory game, go fish게임등을 할수 있고 학생들에게 카드를 들어보이고 캐릭터들의 이름과 철자를 얘기하게 합니다.
5. 워크북 학습 - 이번 워크북 연습문제를 작성하다보면 조금 어려울수 있습니다. 캐릭터들의 이름을 적는 간단한 쓰기로 시작하지만 나중에는 "What's his/her name?"과 같이 완전한 문장표현을 적게됩니다.
Vocabulary 페이지는 학생들이 자신의 "Picture Dictionary"에 붙여 넣게 합니다. 그리고 마지막에 빙고게임을 합니다.
